lay-a-brick for parents

Children can start building on lay-a-brick right away – no account, no ads and no contact with strangers.

What children can do without an account

The editor runs directly in the browser. Your child can build models, print the building instructions and share a model with the family via link. No account and no email address are needed for this. The model stays saved in the browser.

Accounts are only available from age 16. If your child wants to publish a model in the gallery, you can do so with your own account.

What we don’t do

  • No ads and no paid features.
  • No tracking cookies, no analytics services, no third-party content.
  • No messages between users and no comments. Nobody can contact your child through lay-a-brick.
  • No photos of users. All images are generated from the models that were built.

What data is collected

Without an account, lay-a-brick stores nothing about your child on the server, unless they share a model via link – then the model itself is stored on the server. We only store IP addresses as a checksum that changes daily and cannot be reversed, to prevent misuse. You’ll find all the details in the privacy policy.

Published models consist only of building bricks. We automatically check titles and descriptions for inappropriate terms, brand names and links. We also take a look at new accounts and mosaics. If you still notice something, please use “Report” on the model page or write to melden@lay-a-brick.de.

Tips for getting started

  1. Open the duck under Examples together – it takes ten minutes to build.
  2. Print the instructions and build it with real bricks.
  3. Then your child can change the duck or build something of their own.
