Terms of use
These rules apply to everyone who uses lay-a-brick.
This is a translation for your convenience. Only the German version is legally binding.
1. Provider and scope
lay-a-brick.de is operated by Maximilian Hößbacher, Gottlieb-Bögner-Str. 93, 63849 Leidersbach, Germany (see Imprint). Use is free of charge. By creating an account, you agree to these terms. Without an account, they apply insofar as they concern use without an account.
2. Account
- You may only create an account if you are at least 16 years old. Younger people use lay-a-brick without an account or with the help of a parent.
- One account per person. Your details must be accurate, and you keep your password secret.
- Usernames must not contain trademarks, other people’s names or anything offensive.
3. Your content
You are responsible for what you publish: models, titles, descriptions, tags, names and profile text. You only publish models that you designed yourself or that you are allowed to build on as a remix.
The following is not allowed:
- brand names and names of manufacturers, retailers, films, games, series or characters – not even in tags or as a “compatible with” note;
- set numbers and replicas of commercial sets;
- replicas of protected figures and licensed characters;
- content that glorifies violence, is sexual, spreads hate or shows symbols of unconstitutional organizations;
- personal data of other people;
- advertising, links and spam, as well as any manipulation of likes, views or rankings, including through multiple accounts.
4. License
Public models are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (CC BY 4.0). Others may build, change and share them as long as they credit you. If you withdraw a model, remixes that have already been created remain. So that we can operate the service, you also allow us to show your public models, with attribution, on the home page, in preview images, challenges and guides – you do this by publishing. Details: Model license.
5. Reports and measures
Anyone can report content that violates these rules or the law via the report form or to melden@lay-a-brick.de. We review every report promptly and carefully.
Depending on the severity, we may hide or delete content, or warn or suspend an account. We give reasons for every measure by email and name the rule concerned. You can object within 14 days by replying to that email; we will then review the case again. Anyone who repeatedly sends obviously unfounded reports may be excluded from the reporting procedure.
6. Availability
We strive for reliable operation but cannot guarantee constant availability. Keep important models as a file as well – you can download all your data in your account at any time.
7. Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, and for injury to life, body or health. In the case of slight negligence, we are only liable for breaches of essential obligations, limited to the typical, foreseeable damage. We are liable for content of other users in accordance with the statutory provisions.
8. Termination
You can delete your account at any time under Account → My data. We can terminate the user relationship with 30 days’ notice, or immediately in the case of serious violations.
9. Changes
If we change these terms, we will inform you by email at least 30 days in advance. If you do not object, the new terms apply; we will point this out in the email.
10. Applicable law
German law applies. Mandatory consumer protection provisions of your country of residence remain unaffected.
